DIY Water-Catcher

As we began to recycle more and more, we thought carefully about packaging, especially plastic. We started looking for alternative items when we shopped, ones that could be recycled and brought to our local recycling facility. The effort and time paid off as we haven't needed our bin collection service for the last couple of years.

The large, empty, rolly bin is now used as a rain-catcher. Situated under a drain pipe at the corner of the house, the water collected is used on plants and crops in the garden on sunny, dry days. And you could use a Hand Pump Siphon attached to the hose to get to those far reaching places.  Maybe there is something lying around at home that you could try.
