Super Kale

I have been experimenting growing Kale for a while; curly crinkly kale in pots and smooth kale outdoors. Kale is very hardy in frost and I wanted to have a green leafy vegetable available to harvest during the winter to balance the huge amount of turnip I consume. There were some problems at the start like cabbage fly but I solved this by popping some aromatic herbs beside them to repel the little critters. And for slugs I place bran flakes in a single lettuce leaf nearby to attract them all and in the morning I pop the slugs outside. I also try not to pick off too many leaves so that it grows up again. They are a super source of nutrients and I add kale to salads, stir fry, steamed potatoes, smoothies etc
